Tourist Development Tax (TDT)
A county-level tax on short-term rental revenue in Florida, collected from guests and remitted to the county.
The Tourist Development Tax (TDT), also called the bed tax or resort tax, is a county-level tax levied on short-term rental revenue in Florida. Each Florida county sets its own TDT rate — typically 4–6% of gross rental revenue — which must be collected from guests and remitted monthly or quarterly to the county tax collector. In addition to TDT, Florida STR operators must also collect and remit Florida state sales tax (6%) and any applicable discretionary surtax. Failure to collect and remit these taxes can result in significant penalties. Solside Stays handles all TDT and sales tax compliance for all managed properties.
